Co.404 San Cristóbal is located in a quaint little pueblo magico in the highlands of Chiapas with mild temperatures. The coliving sits in a quiet residential area just 13 minutes from the city's main square, offering easy access to San Cristóbal's colorful streets, numerous cafés, and cultural attractions while maintaining a peaceful atmosphere for remote work and community building.
Co.404 emerged from three travelers who met in the hostel-verse while volunteering together. After dabbling in online work, Laurens, Jocelyn, and David decided to create something that was so much more than just a co-living and co-working space. They are travelers first, remote workers second, and passionate about creating communities third. Their vision was to combine the best of hostels, hotels, and co-working spaces, geared specifically towards online workers who wanted to be part of something bigger than just a place to sleep.
Co.404 operates on a volunteer-driven model where staff are travelers and nomads just like the guests, creating authentic connections rather than transactional relationships. The philosophy centers on being family - volunteers and staff act as the extra sibling, cousin, or friend every guest hasn't yet met, sparking conversations over morning coffee and organizing impromptu activities.
Community is described as the heartbeat of Co404, with an emphasis on taking guests on adventures right from arrival and adding them to the community chat to introduce them to the "little family." The approach focuses on creating warm, inclusive vibes where guests feel welcomed, supported, and part of the community rather than just customers.
The coliving has earned recognition for having "the best community vibe in all of Latin America" through their focus on meaningful human connections, with many guests describing it as having the best human connections they've experienced while traveling. The philosophy emphasizes being unpretentious while creating a lovely homey vibe where people can be themselves and form lasting friendships.
