How does the booking process work?

First you make a request using your payment details – these will be used to process the deposit.. Then we'll double check everything is all okay and confirm your booking, at this point your card will be automatically charged a 50% deposit and your booking will be confirmed.

What are the check-in and check-out times at Maraya?

Check-in is from 3 pm onwards and check-out is at 11 am. We will do our best to accommodate early check-ins and late check-outs when available.

Are there any extra fees or taxes to pay?

No, our room prices include all fees and Canarian IGIC.

What does coliving mean?

Coliving is shared living and working in the same space with like-minded people. At Maraya we see coliving as a creative, natural and healthy way of living and connecting to people, introducing a new way of working within nature and within a community of productive minds.

Can I use the kitchen?

Of course! We have two fully equipped kitchens available for all guests. You can also use our BBQ and paella pans.

Are towels & sheets included?

Of course! All bedding and bath towels are included in your room. We change these weekly. If you can, it's a good idea to bring a beach towel, but we also have some available for guests at the house if you're tight on packing :)

Do you host groups or retreats?

Maraya is first and foremost a coliving / coworking space designed for individuals, couples or small groups. However, if you are a larger group we would be open to discuss your requirements to see if it's a good fit.

How can I stay focused and work whilst coliving with so many remote workers?

We understand that this may be a concern, but we believe after a stay at a coliving/coworking space you will actually ask how you stayed so motivated before! First we've created environments that are comfortable and enjoyable to work in. Then we established house rules focused on ensuring you can get a great rest and get your work done regardless of the time-zone you're working in. Finally our guests are people like you, who want to stay focused and work hard so in the evenings and weekends they can enjoy the experiences available at Maraya.

Can I come to Maraya just to cowork?

No, our coworking spaces are only available to guests staying at Maraya.

I need a screen to work, do you have any I can rent or use?

We understand some roles require that extra bit of screen real estate, so we've included 3 x 24″ monitors in our office free for anyone to use. If you'd prefer to reserve one for your stay let us know in advance, the charge to reserve a screen is €1 per day.

What is is the community at Maraya like?

We understand the importance of community and good vibrations – after all, this is likely one of the reasons you'll choose Maraya. Our community aims to make you feel like you're part of a family. We work together, eat together, yoga together, surf together and go on adventures together. We believe in inclusivity and value different perspectives, cultures and ideas.

How long do the people typically stay?

Our minimum stay is 3 nights, but most of our guests stay much longer. A typical stay is for 1 or 2 months. We believe this is because our guests are looking to build deeper connections than a typical traveller, be it to our community, our space, their projects or the beautiful island of Tenerife.

What activities do you offer?

Activities are fun, and they help us to get to know each other better and build a better community. Therefore at Maraya we love to organise activities. Many are included in your stay, such as daily yoga, our Sunday BBQ, games & movie nights, hikes or beach visits, but for some there may be additional costs. These are for activities where equipment or a guide is required, such as surfing, rock climbing, Teide stargazing, scuba diving or kayaking. We also invite guests to organise activities and will do our best to facilitate where we can.

Can I share my skills with other colivers during my stay?

Yes, please do! This is the essence of the sharing culture that we're cultivating at Maraya Coliving. Whether you're a yoga teacher, meditation guru, developer, photographer, chef, graphic designer, artist, musician, tap-dancer, (this list is endless!), we encourage you to share your skill or hidden talent with our community during your stay on one of our skill sharing nights. This is how we grow and thrive as a community.

I love outdoor sports and adventures? Is there anything to do in your area?

Yes, if you're an active outdoor adventurer then Maraya Coliving is a paradise for you. Hiking, surfing, scuba diving, mountain biking, rock climbing, kayaking, camping, horse riding,…the possibilities are endless and all within a short drive of Maraya. We are more than happy to share our knowledge and tips for what to do in the local area.

Do I need to speak Spanish?

We are an international community at Maraya and we normally speak English. However, if you want to learn Spanish, we are happy to organise some lessons for you. Usually we also have some local native Spanish speakers at the house.

What is the weather like at Maraya?

Maraya is considered to be the south of Tenerife because we enjoy the same climate as the south, where it is almost* always sunny. So when packing you'll need summer clothes for sure! In winter it's usually a mild 20 degrees during the day but at night gets a little bit cooler (think long trousers & maybe a jumper). In summer, it's around 30 degrees during the day and at night you can still certainly be out in just a t-shirt.

Do I need a car during my stay?

At Maraya you don't _need_ a car, but we recommend one for exploring the island and for sure life on Tenerife is more convenient with a car. From Maraya you can walk to a small minimarket and some local restaurants in about 10 minutes, or to the beaches, restaurants, shops and bars of Candelaria & Punta Larga in about 25 minutes downhill. Coming back up to the house you can either hop on the local bus 127 (it stops 2 minutes walk from the house) or walk back up, although uphill it's about 30 minutes and is certain to get your heart rate up. We also offer some bicycles for hire to speed up all these times if needed.

Are you based in the North or the South of the Island?

Maraya Coliving is based in the middle! From a climate and locals perspective we're considered the south, but the green of the valleys and the fincas around us feel more like the north. We love it here because we don't have to choose, we get the sunshine like the south but the local and nature feeling of the north. Also from Maraya almost everything to do on the island is within ~30 minutes, like Anaga rural park, El Teide, lots of surfing spots, kiting in el Medano, La Laguna, and of course much much more!

About Maraya Coliving

Maraya is nestled in a beautiful barranco, overlooking the ocean and surrounded by nature in Tenerife. The coliving features premium rooms, multiple dedicated workspaces with incredible views, and something that's just Maraya - a unique atmosphere created by 5 friends brought together through their shared passion of surfing and dream of living by the ocean.

Origin story

Five friends brought together through their shared passion of surfing, the dream of living by the ocean, and the idea of creating a space where people have everything they need to work remotely and enjoy life to the fullest sparked Maraya's creation.

Like all good ideas, it took time. At the beginning it was simply post surf evenings wondering "what if?", sharing travel and digital nomad experiences – the good, the bad and the ugly – and dreaming of their own space.

Then the team and the idea gained momentum. First it was 9 months searching to find the house, then 5 painful months of waiting as negotiations and documents were prepared, until finally they completed at the end of January 2021. It felt like a finish line, but really they had only just begun, now the fun stuff – creating their space. It took another 9 months to renovate everything exactly how they'd imagined it – no wonder it feels like a baby to them.

Maraya aims to create a family experience where residents feel at home as soon as they arrive. The community believes in a healthy work-life balance and loves to explore together.

They understand the importance of community and good vibrations, creating spaces and experiences to provide opportunities to connect, share, move and work together.
