    About Kalart

Kalart is a rural coliving community located in the Montseny Valley, just 45km from Barcelona. The space brings together changemakers, entrepreneurs, and creatives in a peaceful countryside setting within a UNESCO Natural Park. Kalart offers 14 private rooms, coworking spaces, and communal vegetarian lunches, fostering a family-like community focused on social impact and personal growth.

    Origin story

Roger and Nohemi founded Kalart in 2019 with a vision to bring creative minds together under one roof and help people develop themselves while working on projects for the benefit of society. The founders launched the coliving after years of traveling and gaining experience in tourism, holistic wellness, and education projects. Their combined experiences allowed Kalart to evolve into the multi-faceted social organization it is today, becoming the first-ever rural coliving in Catalonia. The location in the Montseny Valley was chosen strategically, as this area had already developed into a cultural hub attracting artists, musicians, therapists, and yoga teachers from around the world since the late 1970s, creating a natural "migratory circuit" from Barcelona's alternative neighborhoods to the countryside.

    Community philosophy

Kalart operates on three core principles: work-life balance, inspiring changemakers, and local & social impact. The community believes that coliving and coworking in a sustainable, collaborative and rural environment can empower people to thrive. They maintain a handpicked community to ensure harmony and balance among residents, carefully selecting members who share their values of sustainability, social change, and equality.

The space provides an environment for purpose-driven entrepreneurship and encourages residents to listen to their inner compass while growing professionally and personally. Kalart calls their residents "changemakers" - individuals between 30-45 years old who want to live purposefully, are interested in nature and holistic practices, and seek professional fulfillment while improving society. The community takes communal living seriously, describing themselves as "a family with an extended tribe," with over 35% of residents eventually settling in the valley permanently.

    Hosts

Roger is the co-founder of Kalart, born and raised in Spain. He has dedicated many years to researching what makes a great rural coliving space and community. He knows every single coliving that operates in Spain, especially those in rural environments. Roger believes that communal living can empower people and is passionate about creating communities that enable personal connections and empower residents to grow personally and professionally. He has lived in countless communal and international environments throughout his life, including Auroville in India, has lived in five different countries, volunteered for a dozen organizations and couchsurfed around the world. Along with expert collaborators, he creates an advisory service for professionals in the creative and cultural sector through the Entrepreneurship and Creative Talent Advisory Office.

Nohemi co-founded Kalart in 2019 together with Roger. Their vision was to help people develop themselves and work on projects for the benefit of society. She has launched projects in tourism, holistic wellness, and education, and her many years of traveling experience, combined with Roger's, allowed Kalart to become the multi-faceted social organization that it is today.
