    About Nine Coliving

Nine is a coliving community located in the historical centre of La Orotava, Tenerife, housed in a beautiful old Canarian building from 1852. The space offers views over the sea and the volcano, combining its location right in the middle of the historical town with a focus on slow life and slow tourism. Nine provides digital nomads with a one-of-a-kind experience exploring island life while finding the right work-life balance.

    Origin story

The story of Nine starts with Anne, a 36-year-old Dutch woman who spent her twenties working to save money for travel adventures. In 2016, she joined a group of 50 digital nomads to travel the world for a year, living and working in 12 cities across 4 continents. This transformative experience led her to eventually settle in Tenerife, where she discovered the perfect location in La Orotava's historical center. Anne transformed a beautiful old Canarian house from 1852 into Nine, creating a space where digital nomads could live, work, and explore the magical corners of Tenerife together.

    Community philosophy

At Nine, coliving is more than just a place to stay—it's a home where remote workers, creatives, and curious souls come together to live intentionally, work with purpose, and build meaningful relationships. The community is built around connection and shared experiences, whether sharing meals, co-working side by side, or exploring the island together.

Nine operates with strong values that include respect, fairness, and support for local businesses. The space emphasizes sustainable resources, environmental care, recycling, and helping abandoned dogs. The philosophy centers on living and working without stepping on anyone, always prioritizing that guests feel good above all else. The community approach focuses on slow living and slow tourism, encouraging deeper connections with both the place and the people.

    Hosts

The story of Nine starts with me, Anne, a 36 year old Dutch girl. My whole twenties I spent working to save up money to take off for a few months each year to travel the world. I kept doing this, until in 2016, I joined a group of 50 Digital Nomads to travel the world for a year, living and working in 12 cities all over 4 continents.

Hi! I'm Silvia. I am from Tenerife and I am part of the Nine team since September 2020. The pandemic helped me to realise that I needed a change of job, something that connects more with my values and fulfils me. After some talks with Anne, we made it happen! I met her back in 2018, when she arrived on the island and adopted Lara.

I had, by then, my dog Lola (now I have 3 dogs - yes, I am this kind of person) and that's how I met Anne and the project of Nine. I came to the house many times before joining the team, and never, during those dates and walks with the dogs, I imagined that I would end up being part of Nine. Now, I am one of the hosts and the house manager. I am mostly in charge of finances, guests, and the daily running of the house.

I have a cool job where I can join yoga classes, chatting with new people, try out good food, a mix of activities... taking care of the finances became fun here as I can combine it with other tasks to make it more easy going. I love to be with dogs, surrounded by nature and nice people.

For me a perfect day means sun, to swim in a natural beach, having my dogs and my relatives close by. At Nine I got a job where I feel fulfilled and happy and that allows me to live in the place I chose to live since the island simply makes me happy and alive.

Hola! I'm Rebeca, I bumped into Nine by pure happenstance like I was meant to find it. After migrating from Venezuela all roads led me to my family's beautiful homeland Tenerife where now I'm able to live out my passion of making human connections as my actual job. I get to know the world through the people I meet and I get to show them our gorgeous island and all of its magic in return. Come explore the island with me!

Ciao! My name is Fabio, I am from Italy, I love practice combat sports, outdoor activities and i am passionate about Surfing. The ocean is my daily medicine and Tenerife is the place to be for me! I saw for the first Time Tenerife in 2019, The Volcano Teide spoke to me and i got the call to move here. This was only possible for me some years later, and here I am.
