About Wonder House Coliving

Wonder House is a coliving experience located just an hour from Barcelona, hidden within Montseny Natural Park. This restored 14th century rural masia offers spontaneous adventures, unexpected friendships, and unforgettable moments. It's an offbeat community that values connection, creativity, and fun, where residents join a playground rather than just renting a room.

Community philosophy

Wonder House believes in "rituals, not meetings" — meaningful moments where lasting bonds form and strangers become stories. The philosophy centers on the power of shared experiences: cooking together, deep conversations under the stars, and dancing barefoot in the moonlight.

The community thrives on spontaneous adventures rather than structured networking, emphasizing that "life is so much more than work." Wonder House values fun as sacred, encouraging residents to stop worshiping corporate culture and instead embrace themed parties, quirky games, sunrise hikes, and karaoke battles.

The approach is about creating a "living, breathing madhouse of imperfect humans" where residents are encouraged to organize activities and bring the space to life, while also having the freedom to skip events and recharge. The philosophy emphasizes that real connections don't happen overnight, which is why a minimum one-month stay is required.

Activities

Location

Wonder House Coliving, Urbanitzacio Rio Park, 14, 17451 Sant Feliu de Buixalleu, Girona, Spain

Wonder House is set in a beautifully restored 14th-century rural masia nestled within Montseny Natural Park, surrounded by forests, mountains, and the natural sounds of the countryside — frogs, birds, and the occasional ambitious mosquito included.

The location is quite remote, which reviewers highlight as adding to its charm: you're immersed in stunning nature while still being within reach of major cities. Girona is about 40 minutes away and Barcelona around 1 hour. The nearby Costa Brava coastline, with its crystalline beaches, is just 30 minutes by car.

The surrounding area offers rich cultural variety — charming Catalan villages, ancient castles, and a calendar full of medieval fairs, witch festivals, and local markets. The park itself provides a vast natural playground with trails, secret gorges, and opportunities for mushroom hunting, trail running, zipline parks, and via ferratas.

Getting around

  • Not walkable
Rural countryside setting with very limited walkable amenities; nearest supermarkets are a 10-minute drive away
Reviews: Guests enjoy walking through the surrounding forests and natural landscape, but daily essentials require a car or a community-organized shared ride rather than any walkable access.
  • Regional train
The nearest village has a train station roughly one hour from Barcelona; owners offer pick-up from the station on arrival, making it easy to arrive without a car
Destinations: Barcelona (day trips and city exploration), Girona
Reviews: By far the most consistently praised way to arrive. The journey from Barcelona takes around 50 to 60 minutes. Guests repeatedly highlight how seamless arrival is since owners come to collect them from the station.
  • Personal car
Bring your own car or rent one; free on-site parking available at the premises
Destinations: Montseny Natural Park hiking trails, gorges, and via ferratas; Costa Brava and Lloret de Mar beaches (around 30 min); Girona city (around 30 to 40 min); Barcelona (1 hour); charming villages like Breda with its cathedral and monastery; Castle of Montsoriu and other medieval towns in the region
Reviews: Recommended for maximum freedom to explore the area. Even without a personal car, guests note the community regularly organizes shared rides for grocery runs and local outings, so it rarely feels like a problem.
  • Free parking
Free on-site parking is available at the premises for guests arriving by car

Policies

Stay restrictions

  • 30 nights minimum

Guest restrictions

  • Children not allowed

Wonder House is currently an adults-only playground, partly because we host some slightly wild, grown-up activities that don't exactly scream "kid-friendly." We might revisit this policy in the future, but for now, it's all about the adults getting to be kids again.

  • Pets welcome

Furry friends are welcome in the suite for a small extra fee! Just a heads-up: we already have a few unofficial, self-appointed garden guardians (a.k.a. the local cats) who like to chill in the sun but politely keep their paws out of the house.
