About Riverside Ecoliving

Riverside Ecoliving is a travel agency for digital nomads connecting remote workers and wellness seekers with carefully curated partner coliving and coworking spaces across Colombia's most inspiring natural settings — including Guatapé, Jericó, San Rafael, and Capurganá. Each partner location is chosen for its comfort, authenticity, eco-responsible values, and reliable high-speed internet, blending work, nature, local culture, and community into transformative experiences.

Origin story

Riverside's story began in 2017 in the Andes of Colombia, in the small town of Jericó — home to one of Latin America's first rural coworking spaces in nature.

The four co-founders — Jota, Paula, John, and Abid — shaped the project out of personal necessity and a shared vision. After living in a country marked by violence and navigating the storm of COVID while working in hospitality, Jota fell ill. Yet he kept going, driven by the belief that many others, like him, were searching for healing, connection, and purpose. From this vision, Riverside was born.

What started as a small sanctuary in Jericó quickly grew. Travelers weren't just looking for a place to stay — they wanted to work productively, live close to nature, and rediscover joy in community. Riverside became a bridge between remote workers and the paradises that could inspire them, evolving into a living ecosystem of regenerative stays and community-led projects across Colombia.

Community philosophy

Riverside believes that travel can be regenerative, purposeful, and full of life. The community is built on genuine exchange — between travelers and locals, and among guests themselves — rooted in cultural immersion, shared spaces, and meaningful connection with nature.

Each destination is co-created with small local entrepreneurs (farmers, artisans, hosts) who bring regenerative practices to life: composting, water care, and biodiversity protection. Every booking directly supports these local entrepreneurs and farmers who care for the land.

Riverside curates both places and people: before someone visits a destination, the team has a short conversation or interview to understand travel intentions and confirm the destination is a good fit for both sides. Community then grows organically from there.

The philosophy extends to well-being balance — guests choose their own rhythm between focused remote work, cultural discovery, wellness activities, and rest — with the conviction that coliving, nature, and community allow people to work, grow, and thrive from anywhere.

Activities

Location

Vereda El Chuscal, Jericó, Antioquia, Colombia

Riverside Ecoliving is set in Vereda El Chuscal, a rural area about 10–15 minutes from the historic center of Jericó, a colorful pueblo patrimonio in the southwest of the Antioquia region. The property sits in the Andean mountains, surrounded by lush green hills, a natural river just minutes away, and sweeping mountain views that characterize this coffee-growing region.

Jericó itself is a heritage town known for its vibrant painted facades, cobblestone streets, artisan workshops producing the traditional carriel, botanical garden, and a strong coffee culture. With around 14,000 inhabitants and relatively few tourists, it retains an authentic Colombian mountain character.

Guests consistently describe the setting as peaceful and secluded — "a little piece of paradise," "incredibly peaceful because it's away from town," and "a complete escape from the hustle and bustle." The access road is narrow and can become difficult in heavy rain, making the property feel genuinely remote while remaining accessible to town for daily needs.

Getting around

  • Limited walkability
Jericó town center is a 15-minute walk away over hilly terrain; river is a 5-minute walk.
Reviews: Guests confirm groceries, museums, and lookouts are reachable on foot, though the hilly terrain is a workout. The river walk is quick and popular for a swim during breaks.
  • Moto-taxi or tuk-tuk
Moto-taxis and tuk-tuks can be hailed in Jericó or arranged through the property. Note that drivers may decline rides in heavy rain due to the narrow, steep access road.
Destinations: Jericó's historic center with its colorful streets, cafés, artisan shops, the botanical garden, local restaurants, cultural museums, and the main plaza.
Reviews: Guests mention taxis as a practical option for getting to town, particularly useful when the hilly terrain makes walking less appealing. Rain can make the steep access road impassable, so local taxis may not be available in bad weather.
  • Private car transfer
Private transfers can be arranged through Riverside. The access road is narrow, unpaved in sections, and steep, making it challenging for small cars, particularly in wet conditions.
Destinations: Nearby towns, Salto de Los Monos waterfall, Las Nubes viewpoint, local coffee farms, and surrounding Andean landscapes.
Reviews: Multiple guests note the access road is narrow, steep, and unpaved in stretches, and advise caution with smaller vehicles. The road can effectively cut off access during heavy rain, so it's worth planning around weather.
  • Free parking
Parking is available at the property. The access road is narrow and can be difficult for small cars during or after heavy rain.
