About Nomadico Coliving - Medellín

Caobo Home is a family-run coliving in Belén, Medellín, right in front of a leafy park and a short stroll from Laureles. With 15 studios, a lush rooftop, jacuzzi, hammocks, and a newly renovated coworking floor with park views, it buzzes with good vibes and city life. Hosted by a real Colombian family, it offers an authentic experience in the Ciudad de la Eterna Primavera — where warmth, culture, and connection come naturally.

Origin story

In 2023, Nomadico was searching for a home in Medellín when a mutual friend connected them with Bernardo and Carol. From the very first visit, it felt easy — they were open, warm, curious, and clearly cared deeply about what they had built.

There was one challenge: Bernardo and Carol had just built six solar-powered studios designed for short stays on Airbnb, but with no shared kitchen, living room, or natural gathering space. For a coliving to work, shared space is essential.

Rather than walking away, they explored a creative solution: since Bernardo and Carol lived next door, the weekly community dinners would be hosted in their home. Guests would step out of the studios and into a real Colombian household for the evening. After partnering with a nearby coworking space, Nomadico Medellín went live in August 2023.

A life-threatening experience had shifted Bernardo's perspective on life — and ultimately led him and Carol to create Caobo in the first place, and later to partner with Nomadico.

After about a year of hosting the Nomadico community, Bernardo and Carol decided to go all in. They fully renovated their home next to the studios into a proper coliving space — with shared areas, a garden, kitchen, rooftop, and a dedicated coworking floor. It took 11 months to build, with 12 permanent workers and more than 23 local people contributing. The first Caobo 2.0 guest arrived in March 2025.

Community philosophy

The community at Caobo is built around the idea that everyone — hosts, guests, and community managers — helps co-create a true home where warmth, culture, and connection come naturally.

Life at Caobo follows the natural rhythm of Medellín: mornings ease into the day with rich local coffee, green views, and familiar faces at the cowork. Days blend deep focus with spontaneous chats, and evenings turn into homemade meals, dance nights, or city adventures. Weekends bring local trips to Comuna 13, Guatapé, or nearby coffee farms.

Because Bernardo and Carol host Caobo as their actual home, family life and shared celebrations are woven into the experience — creating a warm, homey community vibe. Weekly family dinners, arepa classes with Carol, and Bernardo's stories about growing up in Medellín offer genuine connection and cultural depth that guests describe as real integration with the local community, rather than a nomad "bubble."

A Nomadico community manager lives on-site and organises dinners, hikes, and spontaneous salsa nights with the crew.
