About Bencomo Coliving

Bencomo Coliving is a community space in Santa Úrsula, Tenerife, crafted for digital nomads, remote workers, and long-term travelers. It offers 5 private rooms, coworking areas with high-speed internet, shared spaces, a garden, sauna, and infinity pool with views of the La Orotava Valley — all in an authentic local setting surrounded by nature, ocean views, and the Teide volcano.

Origin story

Bencomo Coliving was born from a deep love for Tenerife — its land, people, and nature. Siblings Adrián and Ana, born and raised in the north of the island with Irish roots, wanted to create a project that would bring all of that together with their way of life.

Their vision was clear: a space where digital nomads, remote workers, and long-term travelers could feel at home while enjoying community, nature, and authentic local life. Together, they built a coliving that combines Adrián's logic and stability with Ana's creativity and spontaneity — a place where every person can feel part of a real community and discover Tenerife from a more local and genuine perspective.

Community philosophy

At Bencomo Coliving, community is at the heart of everything. Coliving is seen as more than accommodation — it is a lifestyle where people share experiences, projects, dinners, trips, and unique moments. Every guest contributes something new to the community and takes a piece of Tenerife with them.

The minimum stay of 14 nights is intentional: it allows everyone to connect more deeply and helps create a stronger, family-like community. The goal is for guests to truly feel at home and become part of the Bencomo family.

Everything is designed to provide balance between productivity and wellbeing — from morning yoga sessions and weekly brunches to family-style dinners and community activities. Bencomo also embraces the local way of life: collaborating with small businesses, sharing traditional Canary recipes, and encouraging guests to experience the island as locals.

Activities

Location

C. Taoro, 48, 38390 Santa Úrsula, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain

Bencomo Coliving is situated in Santa Úrsula, a traditional Canarian village in the north of Tenerife, set on a hillside between La Orotava and Santa Úrsula with sweeping panoramic views of Mount Teide, the Orotava Valley, and the Atlantic Ocean. The coliving sits in a purely residential area at elevation, giving it a peaceful, quiet atmosphere away from mass tourism.

The north of Tenerife is known for its greener, milder climate (20–25°C year-round), laurel forests, ravines, and wilder volcanic beaches. Puerto de la Cruz is 10 minutes by car and La Orotava — a historic Canarian town known for its colonial architecture — is also just 10 minutes away. Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the island capital, is approximately 30 minutes away.

Guests consistently describe the surroundings as quiet, peaceful, and inspiring. The coliving is positioned on a mountainside, offering a tranquil residential setting ideal for focused work. As one guest noted, the area offers "peace and quiet" with the "vastness of the landscape" all around. While the area requires a car for most errands, it is "really nicely placed to explore the rest of the island."

Getting around

  • Not walkable
Steep residential hillside; bus stop is a 20-minute walk and most services require a car.
Reviews: Guests consistently describe the terrain as steep and not practical for walking to amenities. One noted the road up is quite steep and not recommended on foot, while others simply emphasised that a car is essential for getting around.
  • Car rental
Rental cars widely available at both Tenerife airports (TFN and TFS). Car rental is strongly recommended by the coliving and guests due to the hilly, steep terrain.
Destinations: Puerto de la Cruz (~20 min), La Orotava (10 min), nearest beaches (5–10 min), Teide National Park (45 min), Santa Cruz de Tenerife (30 min), laurel forests, ravines, and hiking trails across the island.
Reviews: Guests overwhelmingly recommend renting a car. The steep, winding roads make driving the most practical option, and parking at the coliving is described as always plentiful. Having a car is consistently called out as essential for exploring the island freely.
  • Local bus (guagua)
TITSA public bus network. The nearest bus stop is about a 20-minute walk from the house. Check schedules and routes at titsa.com.
Destinations: La Orotava (bus 101, ~25 min total including walk to stop), Puerto de la Cruz (requires a bus change, 45 min+), Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Reviews: One guest who used the bus reported that reaching La Orotava took around 25 minutes in total, factoring in the walk to the stop. Getting to Puerto de la Cruz required a change and took over 45 minutes, leading most guests to conclude that a rental car is far more flexible.
  • Free parking
Parking is plentiful at the property. Guests with rental cars can park on-site at no extra cost. No reservation required.
