About Masseria Olga Coliving

Masseria Olga is a rural coliving in Puglia, Italy, set in a historic family farmhouse dating back to 1917. Designed for digital nomads and solo travellers, it offers a place to slow down, connect with nature, and experience authentic Italian culture while finding a sense of belonging and making lasting friendships with like-minded people from around the world.

Origin story

In 2022, Francesco — Nonna Olga's grandson — decided to do something with the family farm, which had been abandoned for several years. As a university student in Milan at the time, he started with short-term rentals in August only. After finishing university, he moved back and resolved to create something more valuable with a stronger impact on the local community.

In 2024, opening a coliving became the way to give new life to the Masseria by going back to its origins: a place where people would spend their day working and their free time enjoying the company of others with a glass of wine.

The decision to rename the place came from a desire to mark a new chapter and capture its renewed identity — Olga, a place that feels like home, the kind of welcoming, familiar haven you'd find at an Italian grandmother's, where you feel at ease even if you're just visiting.

Community philosophy

Masseria Olga's vision is to create a community of slow-living enthusiasts who share common values and actively contribute to the promotion of a more sustainable lifestyle.

The coliving is built around four core values:

  • Live in Community — cultivating a culture of sharing experiences and fostering deep personal connections among like-minded people from all around the world, striving to build a diverse and inclusive community free from judgment and discrimination.
  • Commit to Sustainability — leveraging community life to minimise environmental impact, embracing the harmony with nature and its rhythms to foster a sustainable lifestyle, and promoting local initiatives for more conscious consumption.
  • Integrate with Local People and Culture — promoting experiences where colivers actively engage with the local community, embrace their traditions and ways of life, deepening appreciation for the unique heritage of the area while contributing positively to the social fabric of the local community.
  • Embrace Rural Lifestyle — creating an environment connected with nature, advocating for a slow-paced life, and encouraging the community to be present and fully engaged with each moment, savouring the little things and connecting with the rhythms of the natural world.

To foster integration between international guests and locals, Masseria Olga organises recurring language exchange events and other community gatherings. The space also welcomes volunteers through Worldpackers and creative professionals who wish to contribute their art or knowledge.

Location

Contrada Angiulli Nuova, Putignano, 70017, Italy

Masseria Olga is a historic farmhouse built in 1917, set in the agricultural countryside of Puglia, southern Italy. The property sits on rural land between the towns of Putignano, Turi, and Sammichele di Bari — all approximately 10 minutes away by car. The landscape is largely flat, dotted with olive groves, vineyards, almond fields, and neighbouring masserias.

The surrounding area is part of the Valle d'Itria, one of southern Italy's most celebrated regions, within easy reach of UNESCO-listed Alberobello, the clifftop town of Polignano a Mare, the coastal town of Monopoli, the whitewashed hilltop village of Locorotondo, the regional capital Bari, and the ancient cave city of Matera. The area also hosts vibrant local festivals and markets throughout the season.

Guest reviews consistently describe the setting as peaceful, rural, and immersive — with quiet mornings, spectacular sunsets, and a genuine sense of slow living. The place is genuinely remote, surrounded only by other farms and masserias, so a car is advisable for full independence, though the coliving's community spirit and shared transport arrangements go a long way.
