    About iSlow Coliving

iSlow Coliving is a rural coliving space in Laxe, Costa da Morte, Galicia, focused on slow living philosophy and connecting digital nomads with authentic Galician culture. The space emphasizes quality over quantity in work, food, and parenting, offering a place of great natural beauty where guests can live and work in a slow culture environment while experiencing local traditions, gastronomy, and community life.

    Origin story

iSlow was born from the vision of a family with Celtic roots who returned to Galicia in 2020 after living in the United Kingdom for over 10 years. They came back with heads full of plans for the "old house" that had been waiting for them. The family wanted their children to grow up in contact with nature, close to the people they love, and live in community. They also sought to create their own network and undertake a project that helped meet the needs of their environment - to be an open door to a work style where digitisation allows mobility and where digital nomads create a life based around sustainable and quality initiatives. This is how iSlow was born, as a space to create connections while discovering the beauty of the Costa da Morte first hand.

    Community philosophy

iSlow's community philosophy centers on slow living - seeking to do everything at the right speed rather than rushing. The space advocates for being masters of time, focusing on personal and social well-being, and environmental sustainability. They consume locally and support those around them.

The community embraces the Slow Food philosophy, emphasizing the origin of produce, preparation of traditional meals, and the satisfaction of sharing them with others. Food brings people together around a table to share moments with family and friends, avoiding rushing and being conscious about consumed products.

For families, iSlow believes in community parenting - that "it takes a village to raise a child." They provide security and support to traveling families, creating an environment where children have their own space and active role, making the community healthier. The local community values are evident in how frequently people get together to share, help or celebrate.

The space facilitates integration of colivers into the local environment, sharing culture, gastronomy, customs and traditions with the goal of providing the experience of a lifetime.

    Hosts

We are Inés, Julio, Lois and Amelie, a family with Celtic roots. In 2020, we returned from United Kingdom where we lived for just over 10 years. We liked and enjoyed living abroad, but at the same time were filled with ideas for the "old house" we had waiting for us back home.

Several years passed with us mulling all of these ideas, until one day we felt the call to return home, and we arrived back in Galicia with our heads full of plans.

We wanted our children to grow up in contact with nature, be close to the people we love and live in a community.

But also to create our own network and undertake a project that helped meet the needs of our environment.

To be an open door to a work style in which digitisation allows mobility and where digital nomads create a life based around sustainable and quality initiatives.
