    About Wild Souls

Wild Souls is a cozy, sunlit house by the sea where curious travelers and remote workers can surf in the morning, work with an ocean view, cook with strangers-turned-friends, and feel right at home along Portugal's stunning coast. Located in São Lourenço on the north side of Ericeira, it's a place to land rather than just stay.

    Origin story

Wild Souls started as Carolyn and Nick's dream for a more connected way of living. They created this space because they wanted something that didn't quite exist in Portugal — a home by the ocean where people can work, rest, and be part of something fun, spontaneous, and real. Not a retreat. Not a hostel. Just a thoughtfully designed place where strangers become friends over shared dinners, surf sessions, and side-by-side work days. This is the kind of place they wanted to live in but couldn't find — so they made it.

    Community philosophy

Wild Souls operates on a simple belief: that life feels better when it's shared. The space embraces shared dinners, spontaneous hikes, surf sessions, stopping for sunset, and late-night conversations by the fire. The community is built around connection, creativity, and ease, where the space functions as a shared home rather than just a coliving space.

The philosophy emphasizes being kind and inclusive, welcoming people from all backgrounds and walks of life. Residents are encouraged to treat everyone with kindness, curiosity, and respect while respecting personal boundaries. The community values both deep connection and the need for rest and recharge, recognizing that both approaches are valid.

    Hosts

Carolyn loves to make beautiful things, brings a sharp eye for detail, and has a deep sense of caring about the world. She loves long dinners, exhausting surf sessions, a good glass of wine while watching the sun go down, and beach time with their dog, Paddington. Wild Souls is a reflection of the life she and Nick are trying to build — one rooted in presence, play, and connection.

Nick is trying to ditch his computer job for a life of curiosity and fun. He loves an active life and social game nights. He loves long dinners, exhausting surf sessions, a good glass of wine while watching the sun go down, and beach time with their dog, Paddington. Wild Souls is a reflection of the life he and Carolyn are trying to build — one rooted in presence, play, and connection.

    Rating

    ∅/10 Unrated
    Based on 12 reviews

    Potential Issues

    Community Activities

Multiple vacation guests mention community activities and meeting people, but this appears to be vacation-style socializing rather than deep coliving community bonds.

    Vacation Dominance

58% of reviews are explicitly tagged as 'Vacation' trips, and 33% are friends/family traveling together. Only 2 out of 12 reviews are from solo business/coliving travelers. This indicates the space primarily serves vacation guests rather than a coliving community.

    Short Stay Pattern

Only 1 review out of 12 mentions stay duration (1 month). The prevalence of vacation language and lack of duration mentions suggests predominantly short stays under 2 weeks, which prevents deep community formation.

    Limited Community Depth

While guests mention meeting people and activities, there's minimal evidence of deep community indicators like continued connections after stays, family-like feelings, or desire to extend stays specifically for the community.

    Potential Issues

    Activity Organization

Hosts organize and inform guests about activities and events, though it's unclear if this empowers residents to self-organize or creates dependency on hosts.

    Vacation-Focused Facilitation

Most evidence of community facilitation comes from vacation guests rather than long-term coliving residents. The facilitation style may be optimized for short-term vacation experiences rather than building sustainable peer-to-peer community.
