    About Avalon

    Avalon is Bansko's original and best coliving, a small mountain community space that feels like a family home yet is big enough to host a fun community. Located in the Bulgarian mountain town of Bansko, it offers a home for travelers to share their love of the mountains, featuring a big kitchen for meals together, a small spa, and high-speed internet.

    Origin story

    Avalon Co-living emerged from James and Dani's desire to bring their hospitality skills together with their mountain passions. Having worked in hospitality all their lives across hotels, restaurants, bars and spas, they created Avalon as their way of building a home for travelers who share their love of mountain life - skiing and snowboarding in winter, hiking and biking in summer. The coliving represents their mission to create the best co-living space in Bulgaria, where travelers can live for a while and truly feel at home.

The space emphasizes shared experiences through regular community events including weekly curry nights featuring legendary Indian buffets, potluck dinners where guests cook and eat together, and an honesty bar system that builds trust. The philosophy centers on being "all about your home for the season" - creating a space small enough to feel like family yet large enough to foster a vibrant community. They believe in supporting residents through concierge services, helping navigate life in Bulgaria, and maintaining clean communal spaces so guests can focus on work and mountain adventures.

He has lived in the sub-continent for many years and cooks a LEGENDARY curry for the weekly curry nights. James has been running multiple businesses in Bulgaria for 17 years and helps guests navigate the paperwork and official processes of living in Bulgaria.

    Dani has been working in hospitality all her life, from hotels and restaurants to bars and spas. She loves all parts of mountain life, skiing and snow boarding in the winter, hiking and biking in the summer. Together with James, Avalon Co-living is their way of bringing their skills together with their passions; creating a home for travellers to share their love of the mountains.

    Bansko is a mountain town with a huge digital nomad community. Sandwiched between the hot mineral springs of Banya and the ski area, Bansko offers something for everyone.

    The town is located in the Pirin mountain region, surrounded by impressive peaks including Todorka, Vihren, and Kutelo. The area features a small but perfectly formed ski resort, vast mountain biking and hiking networks, and wonderful selection of wild rock climbing walls.
