About Hub Feenix

Nestled in the serene forests of southern Finland, just an hour from Helsinki, Hub Feenix is a community-driven co-living and co-working sanctuary housed in a beautifully restored historic sanatorium. Spanning a 15,000m² campus, it brings together digital nomads, artists, volunteers, and full-time residents to live, work, and create side by side — a creative village where creativity, collaboration, and well-being thrive.

Origin story

Originally built as a tuberculosis sanatorium in the early 20th century, the building was designed for rest and recovery — its long corridors, large windows, and generous common spaces all reflecting that original purpose.

After Raisa and Torsten stumbled across the old sanatorium, they made a whirlwind decision and won it in an auction on April Fools' Day 2020. They set out to transform it into something extraordinary. The focus shifted from healing bodies to creating a vibrant, inspiring community where people from around the world could come together to live, work, create, and grow.

Through years of heartfelt effort and many renovation projects, the co-op built a space that cultivates gratitude, renewal, and personal growth — where countless guests now simply feel at home. The campus today hosts 6 event spaces, 100 beds, 20+ full-time residents, an international digital nomads program, a lively volunteer community, and an artist residency program.

Community philosophy

Hub Feenix is a non-profit community guided by values of love for life, fairness, curiosity, and generosity. It is home to five interconnected communities — artists, digital nomads, volunteers, full-time residents, and staff — each bringing a different flow and perspective to village life. Artists and digital nomads contribute a global, creative energy; volunteers keep the space running; while staff and full-time residents steward the building and actively shape its culture.

The mission is to provide not just a place to stay, but a home where creativity, collaboration, and well-being thrive. Community isn't just part of the experience — it's the heart of it.

Life moves in shared rituals as much as individual schedules. Mornings and afternoons are often quiet and focused; evenings open into gathering and shared dinners. Every Wednesday, the community gathers for the weekly sauna — a simple but meaningful tradition. Monthly, artists-in-residence share their current work. There's no single way to participate — just an open invitation to contribute in a way that feels authentic.

Sustainability is woven into daily life: solar panels, composting, an upcycling policy, a community clothing closet, and plant-based meals all reflect a shared commitment to treading lightly. Living collectively means considering how residents impact the space and each other.
