Best for

Retreat-Seeking Hikers. Focused project workers wanting quiet hilltop seclusion, pool and sauna downtime, and Sintra park hiking or Guincho beach, ideally with a car.

Unique features

  • Panoramic Hilltop Views. The architecturally striking house sits on a hilltop in the hills above Cascais, with large windows and balconies looking over the valley, coastline and ocean.

  • Pool and Sauna. Guests use an outdoor pool and a sauna, installed during the stay of one reviewer, which sit apart from the work areas as a separate social space, plus gardens and a patio.

  • Shed Coworking. The coworking space is a converted shed-like lodge with big windows and ocean views, separate from the main house, and guests choose from several work areas.

  • Natural Park Trails. Hiking trails in Sintra Natural Park start steps from the house, and Guincho beach, known for kitesurfing, is about 10 minutes away by car.

Community

Connection happens around the house's giant dining table, over free coffee on the terrace, and through weekly in-house coffee gatherings and work jams in the common area. Community manager Eliana helps guests during their stay and brings people together; guests mention shared dinners, hikes in the Sintra hills and day trips to the coast, often with fellow members who have cars.

Location

Malveira da Serra, Cascais, Portugal

The villa sits in the hills of Malveira da Serra above Cascais, with sweeping views over Guincho and the coast. Guincho is a small coastal town about 25 minutes by car from Lisbon, known for its vast sandy beach, surf breaks and kitesurfing spots. The area backs onto the Sintra-Cascais National Park, a green, protected mountain landscape. The road up the hill is a little bumpy.
