About Novovento Coliving

Novovento is a shared house on the west coast of São Miguel island in the Azores, offering countryside with ocean views in a quiet setting ideal for remote work and creative projects. A typical Azorian stone house with 3 bedrooms (max 8 guests), it features a large creative workspace (L'Atelier), a 1,500 m² garden with organic vegetables and fruit trees, and a warm community atmosphere — with minimum one-week stays to allow guests to truly slow down.

Origin story

Emilie, a lifelong traveller, settled on São Miguel island in 2017 to escape from the craziness of the world. She founded Novovento — meaning "new wind" — as a place where guests could break away from their ordinary hustle and bustle, recharge, exchange ideas, and develop new projects in a paradise setting surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean.

Community philosophy

Novovento invites guests to slow down and connect — with themselves, with others, and with the island. The house and garden are designed to offer both solitude and togetherness, with cosy areas to chat, read, or rest alongside shared spaces for collaboration.

Guests are encouraged to team up to explore the island's thermal baths, crater lakes, and hiking trails, or to create together — from building and gardening to whatever is uniquely them. Regular shared dinners, BBQ nights, and movie evenings foster a sense of community, while the minimum one-week stay allows meaningful connections to form.

As one guest put it: "For some magical reason the place attracts individuals looking for a new path."
