About Neighbourgood - Ravenscraig

Neighbourgood Ravenscraig is a co-living space in Green Point on Cape Town's Atlantic Seaboard, offering 17 large en-suite rooms across a heritage building and a main house with a pool. Fitted with stylish finishes while maintaining homely charm, it sits on a quiet road next to the locally loved Cushty Cafe & Deli — a home away from home in the heart of Cape Town's social activity.

Origin story

Neighbourgood was founded on 1 July 2020 by three co-founders — Murray Clark, Kim Clark, and St John Gardner — with a big, slightly wild dream: what if the way people live and work could be more connected, more human, and a little more good?

The concept grew out of years of learning about what it takes to build sustainable spaces and places. The founders found that it is the inherent power of community, diversity, and collaboration between people that really makes all the difference — and so Neighbourgood was conceived, with a mission to bring good into neighbourhoods.

Neighbourhood Ravenscraig opened in November 2023 as part of Neighbourgood's Year 4 expansion, extending the brand's Green Point offering alongside other new Cape Town locations. It was delivered by Neighbourgood's in-house projects, design, and facilities team, and joined a growing city-wide network of living and working spaces designed to create an "intentional community" for modern travellers, digital nomads, and remote workers.

Community philosophy

Neighbourgood members know their neighbours. The brand values friendliness over anonymity, and that is reflected in every aspect of its spaces.

The idea of coliving and coworking is to create a community-centred environment that promotes social interaction, whilst simultaneously providing independence for members in their private living or working spaces. Coliving and coworking offers a built-in community of people who are open to sharing meals, networking, hosting events, and providing support to each other.

Community creates a sense of belonging and a sense of purpose. Neighbourgood's community celebrates all differences — standing for acceptance and inclusiveness, with the belief that community is engrained in who they are.

Staying at Neighbourgood automatically makes guests members, with access to workspaces, daily events and happenings, and discounted rates at partner cafes — plugging them into the full Neighbourgood ecosystem across the city.
