Kotor Nest is a coworking and coliving in the heart of Kotor's Old Town, Montenegro — one of the first in the Balkans, open since 2019. Spread across two stone buildings with 20 rooms, it offers the Mediterranean lifestyle, company of interesting people, and authentic Balkan cuisine. Operating from October to June, it lets guests experience local Old Town life without mass tourism. Digital nomads from 5 continents have stayed here.
Kotor Nest was born with a desire to create a safe space for remote workers and digital nomads seeking connections and new experiences. It launched in 2019, making it among the first colivings in Montenegro and the Balkans.
Combining a beautiful destination — Kotor, a UNESCO World Heritage site nestled at the end of Boka Bay — with a great living space and strong values, Kotor Nest has become a home to location-independent workers from all around the world.
The community is at the heart of Kotor Nest — it is the core and the foundation around which the whole experience is built. The team focuses on the community, planning weekly activities while also being open to supporting any activities the community feels like doing.
Each week, common activities are planned that bring value to the whole experience: hiking, kayaking, SUP, mastermind sessions, movie nights, welcome and farewell dinners, biking to nearby villages, sailing boat trips, and having lunch at a local mussel farm. The living room is a multipurpose space transformed into a stage for talks, a cinema, or a yoga studio — a place where great moments happen, connections are made, and bonds are formed.
From 2023, Kotor Nest moved to hosting groups with fixed dates, a deliberate choice to create a more cohesive and immersive community experience. This approach enhances the quality of interactions, strengthens friendships, and facilitates a harmonious environment for collaboration and personal growth.
Activities are always optional — colivers can choose to opt in with no pressure. Sometimes, all that's needed is a safe space filled with amazing individuals, and the magic happens spontaneously.
Kotor Nest is situated in the heart of Kotor's Old Town (Stari Grad), a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its well-preserved medieval architecture, stone buildings, narrow alleyways, churches, and historic fortifications. The coliving itself is housed in a building dating to 1852. The town is nestled at the innermost point of Boka Bay, the southernmost fjord in Europe, and is dramatically flanked by rugged mountains on one side and the deep blue Adriatic on the other.
The Old Town is compact, atmospheric, and filled with restaurants, cafés, pubs, shops, and small supermarkets all within easy reach. Guests frequently describe the area as having a vibrant, central location — though being in the heart of a lively old town means some street noise can be heard into the late hours on weekends. The coliving is about a 10–15 minute walk from the main entrance gate to the bus station, and the port is close by as well.
Kotor operates at a relaxed Mediterranean pace, especially outside the summer high season, and the surrounding bay is dotted with picturesque towns such as Perast and Budva. Day trips to Lovćen National Park, Lake Skadar, and even Dubrovnik (Croatia) are easily organized from here.
