About Casa Pardal Coliving

Casa Pardal is a rural coliving and coworking space set in a 17th-century Catalan home inside a fortified medieval village in Catalonia's Anoia region, just one hour from Barcelona. Designed for digital nomads, remote workers, creatives, and artists who want to slow down, live in community, and connect with nature — sharing meals, tending the veggie garden, collecting eggs from chickens, and baking homemade bread, all surrounded by fields and mountain views.

Origin story

Casa Pardal sits within La Fortesa, a fortified hamlet whose history dates back to 1282. Nearly a hundred people once called this place home, working the surrounding fields — harvesting wheat and corn and producing homemade wine in their cellars. Over generations, that communal way of life gradually faded.

Monica, from Catalonia, and James, from France, came together with one shared vision: to create a life that feels aligned, grounded, and inspired by community. They see a deep connection between these old villages and their dream of a shared, intentional way of living. Casa Pardal grew from that dream — an eco-friendly space where stories are shared, ideas flow easily, and nature reminds people to slow down and connect, carrying forward the spirit of community that has always lived here.

Community philosophy

Casa Pardal goes beyond shared desks and bedrooms — it is built on shared values: sustainability, collaboration, and simple living. The community is small by design, between 4 and 12 people at a time, which allows connections to flow naturally. By day three, everyone knows each other's name and what they're about.

Everyone brings something unique to the table — from yoga and cooking to art or woodworking. Three shared meals per week bring people together around food, recipes, and stories from different cultures. Cooking is always optional, with no pressure to participate. Living here means sharing the house, not being served by it — everyone participates, and that's what makes it a community.

The week has a shape, not a schedule. There are no forced icebreakers or packed activity calendars. Some nights the house is alive with music and shared meals; other times it's quiet, with people reading, meditating, or resting by the fireplace.

The project is fluid and shaped by the people who pass through — residents build benches, create compost systems, lead yoga sessions, or start rituals that become part of the coliving. This is not just a space — it's a collaboration.

Cami de la Fortesa, Anoia, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain

Casa Pardal is set inside La Fortesa, a fortified Catalan village in the Anoia region of Catalonia, about an hour from Barcelona. The house sits within working farmland, surrounded by open wheat fields and distant mountain views. The village itself features stone architecture, arcades, covered walkways, and weathered walls that date back centuries.

The Anoia region is a quieter corner of Catalonia known for its peaceful hills, medieval castles, and small but vibrant local communities. The nearest town, Calaf, is just 5 minutes by car and hosts a popular Saturday farmers' market. The area is also dotted with historic villages, local wineries, and natural landmarks — Montserrat is about 35 minutes away, and Castell de Boixadors is within easy reach.

As one reviewer put it, it is "the perfect escape from the city — calm, community-driven, and full of heart." The website itself notes that the area smells of grass and wild herbs most days, with occasional whiffs of real agriculture depending on the wind — a reflection of the genuinely rural, working-farmland setting.
