    About Cape Coliving

Cape Co-Living is South Africa's favorite co-living community for digital nomads, housed in a beautifully restored 9-bedroom Cape Victorian villa with an additional charming cottage in Green Point, Cape Town. The space features a magical 360-degree terrace, thoughtful community spaces, fast Wi-Fi, 24-hour electricity, and is within walking distance of the city's best attractions including the V&A Waterfront.

    Origin story

Cape Co-Living emerged from founder Matt Davison's decade-long search for the perfect community-oriented space. A South African from the Garden Route, Matt spent over ten years traveling globally while helping travel companies through his marketing agency, Travel Tractions. The more he traveled, the more he recognized Cape Town as one of the most incredible places to live - something he wanted to share through his lifelong dream of opening a hospitality space.

Matt's perspective shifted when he discovered his first coliving during a stay in Mallorca, Spain, which sparked a year-long property search in Cape Town. On a return trip to Mallorca, he met Dakota, who became his partner in both life and Cape Co-Living. Dakota joined at launch, bringing warmth and becoming the soul of the community. In 2024, the family grew with Feli, whose infectious energy and welcoming smile became synonymous with the Cape Co-Living experience.

Cape Co-Living was created for people who always wanted to come to Cape Town despite concerns about long flights, safety, or not knowing anyone. The founders wanted to show people the magic of the city and the lifestyle it offers when surrounded by the right community.

    Community philosophy

Cape Co-Living believes in the power of community and comfort from day one. The space brings together open-minded humans who value productivity, growth, and connection, believing that community can turn strangers into collaborators, travel into lifestyle, and a house into a home.

The coliving fosters connections through a curated community with engaging skill-sharing sessions, creating a culture of sharing. They maintain a lively social calendar with built-in community events including weekly lunches, weekend activities, workshops, classes, impromptu movie nights, dinners, potluck lunches, and game nights. Weekly family meetings are designed to cater to different interests and help residents build meaningful relationships.

The philosophy centers on balancing productivity with fun and relaxation, creating a warm, inspiring atmosphere where digital nomads can connect, recharge, and thrive together. They take community seriously, with dedicated community managers ensuring all members feel welcomed and supported in an inclusive environment.

    Hosts

I'm Matt, the founder. A South African from a little place in the Garden Route. For over a decade, my journey was defined by travel.

Helping travel companies through my marketing agency, Travel Tractions, allowed me the freedom to explore globally for the last decade, chasing experiences, flights, stays and connections.

The more I traveled, the more I found Cape Town to be one of the most incredible places to live, and something I knew I wanted to share through the lifelong dream of opening a hostel, hotel or Airbnb one day.

My perspective shifted when I discovered my first coliving during a stay in Mallorca, Spain (shoutout Palma Coliving). And a year long property search in Cape Town began…

On a return trip to Mallorca, I met Dakota – now my partner in life and Cape Coliving.

Dakota joined me at the launch of Cape Coliving, bringing her warmth and becoming the soul of our community and social presence.

In 2024, our family grew again with Feli, whose infectious energy and welcoming smile have become synonymous with the Cape Coliving experience.
