    About Kalima Beach Life

Kalima is a beachside coliving and coworking space located 7 seconds from the beach in Caldes d'Estrac, just 45 minutes from Barcelona. The space serves as the home and office for glocal remote workers, offering furnished private rooms, stunning sea views, and a vibrant community that connects international digital nomads with locals. Located in a charming modernist house with a spacious garden, Kalima provides a peaceful Mediterranean lifestyle while maintaining easy access to Barcelona.

    Origin story

Vanessa Sans, an internationally recognized expert in coworking and coliving, relocated to Caldetes three years ago seeking a place for her paddleboard and coworking space. This search led her to discover what would become Kalima. Originally from Barcelona, Vanessa had spent over a decade developing coworking and coliving projects globally while working remotely. Her vision was to create a space that would generate positive impact in people's lives and local businesses by promoting a vibrant way of life through the exchange of knowledge, culture and social activities between international and local remote workers.

    Community philosophy

Kalima operates on "The Kalima Way" philosophy: work, play, explore, connect and belong. The space aims to generate positive impact in people's lives and local businesses by promoting a vibrant way of life through the exchange of knowledge, culture and social activities between international and local remote workers as well as the town's people.

Kalima positions itself as a glocal community - welcoming talented individuals seeking work-life balance while fostering both belonging and productivity. The space emphasizes meaningful connections, describing how "a bunch of strangers become friends, sharing meaningful conversations, laughter and celebrations." The community focuses on integration with locals, encouraging members to "exchange ideas and feel integrated with people from the town" and discover the authentic Catalan area "non contaminated by tourism."

The philosophy centers on becoming "a hub of connection and meaningful relationships" where members can immerse themselves in the local area and way of life, rather than just finding a place to live and work.

    Hosts

Vanessa is the driving force of Kalima. She is an internationally recognized expert in the coworking and coliving sectors. Originally from Barcelona, Vanessa has spent over a decade developing coworking and coliving projects globally while working remotely. She relocated to Caldetes three years ago, seeking a place for her paddleboard and coworking space, leading her to discover Kalima.

Carmen is the caretaker of Kalima. She is originally from Caldetes, with experience in business administration and service management. She also has a long history in the management of tourist accommodations. Her international background has enriched my multicultural perspective and management skills. In addition, she is a mother.
